I Soft-sided heavy nylon case $49

Removable 2" foam padding!

These soft-sided cases are of incredible quality, and are brand new. They are made of a heavy, canvas-like yet flexible ballistic nylon. They were made for the US military as printer cases, but never used. The color is olive green: any tan in the pictures is from the lighting conditions. Trust me, they're olive green inside and out, and brighter than the indoor pictures show. The handle color on the bottom photo is the closest to being the true color of these cases, which is toward the greener end of the several standard versions of army olive drab.

AOL users note: Turn off AOL WWW graphics compression if you don't want to see a blotchy "Impressionist painting" of the case!

The straps are heavy (cotton canvas?) cloth and attached with metal rivets. There is a 2-part/Velcro-closed top handle for 1-person carrying, and two additional handles near the top of both sides, for 2-man carrying of a heavier item. There are 4 little foot nubs on the bottom.

Outside dimensions: 21" long x 12" wide x 20" high when oriented "handle up." The width direction zips open on 3 sides into two equal halves each 6" thick.

Inside dimensions: 17" long x 8" wide x 15" high when "handle up" or 17" long x 15" wide x 8" high when laid down and opened up.

Weight: About 8.5 pounds; shipping weight 11 pounds.

Essentially, there is a 2" thick piece of foam padding in every direction, enclosed in zippered nylon compartments. The 8 corners have rounded, 3-sided steel corner pieces attached to the foam. The beauty of the zipper-compartmented foam is that you can remove the foam and trim it or replace it with thinner or slightly thicker foam if you need to adjust the interior size up or down, or customize its shape or stiffness. You can also remove the foam completely and have a very nice and quite large unpadded rectangular case.

Additionally, there are two interior accessory compartments with Velcro closures. They're like nylon bags which take up no space until you put something in them.

Price: $49 plus shipping/handling

I ship these cases out in brand new corrugated boxes which I ordered to fit them. You may choose between having it packed and shipped as shown, fully assembled in a 22x22x12 box (considered Oversize 1 by UPS, causing a 30 pound billed weight despite it actually being 11 pounds) for $31, or for $16 in a 22x17x12 (or 22x16x13 sometimes) box with some of the foam (all still included) out of the zipper pockets, for easy reassembly in about 1 minute. Both prices include shipping, handling, insurance, UPS email notification of shipment, online tracking, a new corrugated box, and a big, clear plastic bag.

So the total price is $65 delivered via UPS Ground in the 48 states, in a 22x17x12 or 22x16x13 box which has the advantage of avoiding UPS Oversize charges. Or $80 delivered in a 22x22x12 box which has the advantage of "no assembly required" plus potential reusability of the box for shipping the case plus contents, if that's your intention.

Shipping outside the 48 states, or by air, or by USPS or other methods, are all additional and quotable upon request.

Now a BIZARRE OFFER: It turns out that this case is the perfect size to fit 10 bowling pins into it. I happen to have a ton of used bowling pins. So here's the STRANGEST DEAL in astronomy: get the case plus 10 regulation AMFlite II bowling pins for $99 delivered! Bowl on your lawn, set up a rifle range, juggle them, use them as dome-rotation handles, bolt one to your trailer hitch when you go bowling, or just amaze your friends! Why the $19 bargain on the pins including shipping? The pins weigh 35 pounds, so the billed shipping weight goes only from 30 pounds to 46 pounds in the 22x22x12 box. More importantly, I want the bowling pins out of my storage unit!
